Our History

Who we are and how ParPer Drum came to be

Hello! We`re Jonathan PARis y Nerea PERez, self-taught artisans and the heart of ParPer Drum.

We are not a large company.
We are a family committed to and passionate about music, art, and handcrafted work.

Thank you for coming this far, because what matters is not only the sound, but know who is on the other end.

From a life together to a shared purpose

Our meeting gave rise to much more than a life together:
A family was born, a purpose and a dream that we continue to build day by day, step by step.

We are a couple, travelling companions and parents to a little boy whose surname encapsulates the essence of all this: ParPer, the union of our surnames.
For us, it is not just a name: it is our roots, our legacy, and the invisible thread that connects our history with that of every person who plays one of our instruments.

That's how born. ParPer Drum.
Not as a company, but as a natural extension of who we are.

The origin: a loud call

Before all this, Jonathan lived in the heart of Madrid, working as a sales representative.
Noise, rushing, stress. A frantic pace that left no room to breathe.

Until one day, the Handpan crossed his path.

That sound stopped him in his tracks.
It made him pause, listen and reflect.
He understood that it was not just an instrument, but a profound call.

But at that time, access to these instruments was complicated: high prices and long waiting lists. So he decided to try it himself.

Cogió una bombona por primera vez… y empezó a afinar.

With that first tank, he spent hours and hours playing until well into the early hours of the morning. Between fire, blows and constant listening, he began an investigation that has not stopped since.

Searching and creating

What began as a personal necessity became a deeper quest:
understand sound, metal, and vibration.

That's how the idea came about to fuse the best of the Tank Drum with the expressiveness of the Handpan, without copying or imitating, but searching for a language of its own.

Trial and error.
Cut, refine, listen.
Start over.

That's how born. Arcturus, the first model, and with it a constant evolution in versions, tuning and sound response.

The blow and the reinvention

There were also difficult moments along the way.
Part of our work was copied.

Far from giving up, we decided to reinvent ourselves for the better, delve even deeper into research, and protect our path by registering and patenting our invention.

That moment marked a turning point.
It did not stop us: it made us stronger.

The workshop and life today

Today we work from La Rinconada de Tajo (Toledo),, surrounded by metals, tools and melodies.
Here we shape unique instruments that not only sound, but live.

Each piece is constructed one by one, without haste, with dedication and presence. Designed to open up spaces for calm, play, joy, reunion or musical creation.

Nerea, also self-taught, puts her heart and soul into the design and visual customisation, taking care of every detail so that the instrument reflects the essence of the person who will receive it.

Together we form ParPer Drum: two different people, one common goal.

More than just a workshop

ParPer Drum is not just a brand or a workshop.

It is our history made into sound.
It is love transformed into vibration.
It is proof that, even in the midst of chaos, music always finds a way to bring light, unity and life.

We are still here. Creating, researching, learning.

And every instrument that leaves the workshop carries a little piece of our history within it...
which continues with you.
