What is the difference between a tank drum and a handpan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although they are sometimes lumped together, they are not the same instrument and are not experienced in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Handpan<\/strong> has a dome shape and a very enveloping, ethereal sound with many nuances, but it is also more sensitive. It requires a certain technique, more control when playing, and greater care, both in use and maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tank Drum<\/strong>, on the other hand, is made from steel cut into tongues and has a more stable and responsive character. It is very intuitive, easy to play from the outset, and allows you to enjoy the sound without having to think too much about technique. That's why it works so well for beginners, therapists, children, musicians... and anyone who simply wants to play and feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the difference between the ParPer Drum models?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The differences between models relate to size, number of notes, type of tuning, number of harmonics and, above all, the character of the sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some instruments have more body and projection, others are more compact and direct, some are more enveloping and others more percussive. There are no better or worse models: there are models that are better suited to a particular playing style or specific use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long does it take to make an instrument?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everything we make is handmade and one-of-a-kind, so yes, it takes time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a guideline, an order usually takes between 4 and 8 weeks<\/strong>, depending on the model and the level of customisation. During that time, we usually share progress updates, photos or videos of the process, because the instrument does not appear suddenly: it is built little by little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's not mass production. It's a workshop. It's craftsmanship and listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I play it without any musical knowledge?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. In fact, most people who come here have no musical training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No music theory or theory is required. These instruments are designed to be played intuitively: you place your hands on them, strike them gently, and the sound appears. Then everyone can explore as far as they want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you know music, great.
And if not, that's fine too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which scale or tuning is right for me?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The scale defines the notes of the instrument and much of its character: sweeter, deeper, darker, brighter...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the section Sound and Tuning<\/a><\/strong> section, you can listen to real examples and read clear explanations of each scale. Even so, it's normal to be unclear at first. In that case, write to us, tell us what you're looking for, and we'll guide you without any hassle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no \u2018best\u2019 scale. There are scales that connect with you more than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I customise my instrument?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. And you can customise it a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can customise the scale, frequency, finish, colour and decoration. We do not work with generic instruments or simply repeat designs. Each piece is tailored to the person who will play it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us your idea, what you like or what you have in mind, and we will work on it in the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What materials do you use?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We work mainly with high-carbon steel, often recycled, which we give a second life through a completely artisanal process: we treat, work and refine it ourselves, from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some models, we use stainless steel, which offers greater resistance to corrosion and a different sound character. Each instrument passes through our hands many times before it is considered finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does sound change over time?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes, as with any instrument. During the first few months, if it is well cared for and played, the instrument gains in quality, sound and vibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With normal use and basic care, the tuning remains stable for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens if it gets knocked hard or goes out of tune?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

They are made to be played, not to be used as decoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A normal knock will not damage them, but it is best to avoid dropping them, hitting them very hard or using unsuitable drumsticks. Hammers are better for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a note moves due to a knock, it can be checked to see if it can be adjusted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What care does my instrument need?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Very few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoid excessive humidity and sudden changes in temperature. Clean it with a soft cloth and, if it is unvarnished high-carbon steel, apply a light protective oil from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does it include a cover or accessories?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We include special drumsticks<\/strong>, designed to protect the instrument and produce a good sound. Other drumsticks may damage it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We only offer covers when we have pieces made by collaborating artisans, and they are not included free of charge due to their actual cost. We do not add books; we prefer to share resources and lessons on our YouTube channel, openly and practically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you ship internationally?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. We ship to almost anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost and delivery time depend on the destination country, and there may be import taxes that are beyond our control. Before shipping, we will inform you of all the details so there are no surprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you offer discounts for professionals or therapists?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
